Notice of Intent to fill City Council Vacancies by appointment
You are hereby notified that the City Council of Welton, Iowa Clinton County, Iowa, intends to fill two vacancies on the City Council by appointment at the city council meeting held at 95 Main Street, Welton IA 52774 at 6:00 PM on Tuesday February 8th, 2022. The electors of the City of Welton have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by a special election as provided in Section 372.13, (2), (a) of the Code of Iowa. If no such petition is filed, the appointment shall be for the period until the next pending election as defined in Section 69.12 of the Code of Iowa.Eligible electors of the City of Welton, Clinton County, Iowa wanting to be considered for appointment should submit a request to the City Clerk by 6:00 PM on February 8th, 2022. You can contact the City Clerk by calling 1-563-221-1689 or by emailing weltoncity@hotmail.com or by dropping a written request in the drop box at 95 Main St Welton IA 52774.
City Elections
The City of Welton's population at the 2010 census was 165. The City is governed by elected officials comprising of a Mayor, and 5 Council members.
The Mayor serves a term of two years, while elected Council Members serve a term of four years on a rotation of 3 and 2.
City Elections are held every two years.
The next City Election is November 7th, 2023.
