The City of Welton's population in the 2010 census was 165. The City Government is comprised of six elected officials; a Mayor and 5 City Council Members. City Council meetings are on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at 95 Main St., in Welton, IA. 

Utilities provided or serviced by the City of Welton include water, sewer/septic, garbage and recycling. Garbage is on Tuesdays and Recycling is every other Tuesday by Republic Services.
